2. Data we process

Depending on how you use the service, SetNerd processes account data (name, email, authentication provider); for a beta registration, display name, email address, language, time, and the acknowledged privacy version and, when optionally selected, the newsletter request, consent time, and text version; pseudonymous player and device identifiers; purchases and access rights; gameplay and learning progress; Academy assignments; profile pictures; optional feedback text; friendship and community actions; language; time zone; and technical security data. Diagnostic and performance data is sent from the iOS app only after separate activation.

3. Purposes and legal bases

Required data is processed to handle a requested beta registration, provide the account and requested features, take pre-contractual steps and perform the contract, prevent abuse, and maintain IT security. Newsletter and product communications, optional usage analytics, and technical diagnostics are processed only with the respective optional consent; beta interest registration does not depend on newsletter consent. Statutory retention duties and legitimate interests in preventing and documenting abuse remain unaffected.

4. Academy and organizations

Organizations see only enrollments, assignments, deadlines, and completions intended for their Academy program. Private gameplay is not automatically shared with employers or other organizations. Session-specific identity is displayed only where the feature provides for it and the person chooses to share it.

5. Recipients and service providers

Data is shared only with technically necessary hosting, email, payment, and platform providers. Apple processes App Store purchases and, when selected, Sign in with Apple. Google or Microsoft are involved only when their sign-in option is explicitly selected. SetNerd does not share data for advertising or track users across other companies’ apps or websites. Processors are contractually bound; international transfers take place only with an appropriate legal basis and safeguards.

6. Retention

Beta registrations that have not been converted into an account are removed no later than 180 days after submission. Game attempts are removed no later than seven days after expiry; expired or revoked anonymous sessions no later than 30 days afterwards. Optional technical diagnostics are retained for no more than 30 days and optional analytics events for no more than 180 days. Account data and learning progress remain until account deletion or the end of the applicable contractual or statutory retention obligation. Account-specific local caches are removed on sign-out and all local account data is removed on account deletion.

7. Your rights and choices

SetNerd lets you control optional analytics, diagnostics, and product emails separately, export personal data, and delete the account directly. You may also have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, objection, and withdrawal of consent. You can lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority:

8. Cookies and local storage

SetNerd uses technically required authentication cookies and first-party storage for language, appearance, navigation, editor drafts, security revisions, and pseudonymous participant or installation identifiers. The language cookie is set for 30 days only after an explicit selection. Optional browser diagnostics are used only after separate activation. There is no advertising or third-party tracking.

9. Security and changes

SetNerd uses encrypted connections, access-bound sessions, single-use game attempts, rate limits, and minimized logs. This notice is updated when features, providers, or legal requirements change. Material changes are highlighted in the app and, where required, presented for renewed acceptance.
